Doug Turnbull

Associate Principal Consultant

Doug is a Mining Engineer and Associate Principal Consultant with Snowden Optiro. He started his career at Teutonic Bore underground copper/zinc sublevel open stope mine in Western Australia in 1980 as a longhole production driller. Doug has worked in many facets of the mining industry since then, including drill & blast crew, shotfirer, shiftboss, mine planning engineer, mining production manager, processing production manager, fixed  and mobile equipment maintenance manager, supply chain manager & study manager across a number of commodities including iron ore, aggregates, coal, copper, gold & manganese mines.

Doug extended his experience into mining equipment supply and services on a global basis, including being Vice President of Mining Systems Products and head of Trans4mine, where he specialised in customer applications optimization, fitting the mine plan to the equipment, including in-pit-crushing-&-conveying (IPCC) assessments in surface mining and automated equipment assessments in underground mining. This background has provided Doug with a strong global network together with an extensive understanding of what works and what does not.
