30 Seconds of Reconciliation Info… well actually more like a full minute!

This week’s 30 Seconds of Reconciliation Info is from Ian Glacken our Director of Geology.

Underground face or channel samples – a boon or a chore for reconciliation?  Collected and used correctly, channel samples (a groove cut into the development face) or face samples (chips cut in a line across the face) can be your best friend for reconciliation (and in grade control modelling), as they are frequent samples throughout the ore zone.  But they can also be a nightmare – especially if the quality of the samples isn’t good (non-selective, non-probabilistic, biased towards the ore or waste).  The most important guideline is to remove those face or channel samples which don’t traverse the entire ore zone, as these are guaranteed to mess up your reconciliation.
